Cowgirl Way Cutting Horses at Bigsby Creek
About
I resided in Pennsylvania all of my life and have had the privilege of being around horses and most other farm animals since I was three years old. Back then I participated in 4-H club, gymkhana, and small rodeos. My parents owned a small Quarter Horse breeding farm and I would halter break the weanlings, yearlings, and start the two year olds that we would sell and show in the AQHA/APHA events. I’ve successfully team penned/sorted, but it wasn’t until I came across the cutting horse sport that my passion was to be fulfilled.
Over the next few years, during which I was raising two children, operating a cattle and crop farm with my then husband, I continued to observe, read, show, and develop my skills through hands on experience with several of the cutting industries’ most successful trainers. In 1996, I made the decision to start training cutting horses and their riders professionally. Geographically, the Northeast as many of you know, is not exactly considered to be the “central hub” of cutting. Cattle supplies and show promoters are not as plentiful as in the Southwest and one has to travel long distances to be able to show consistently throughout the show season.
Although fortunate enough to establish myself and be surrounded by quality clients and horses in the Northeast, I made my decision to move south in order to increase my access to more shows and cattle availability. At present, I continue to strive for excellence in everything from basic care of the horse to the moment I step into the cutting arena and I am blessed to have the support of my family and my two sons, Adam and Brent, who show cutting horses as well.
